Great way to see the amazon! Our guide Fernando and the owner, Jorge were all great. Very professional and tailored our experience based off our interests! Make sure to dress appropriately and bring lots of bug spray!
Amazing rain forest experience!
We spent days looking through the various lodge options in the Tambopata/Puerto Maldonado area and chose Chuncho Lodge – one of the best decisions!
Our guide Gabriel met our family of four (including our two adult children) with the driver and van at the airport and we instantly felt we were like a family! We went to their main office in Puerto Maldonado where we could drop off any extra baggage that we wouldn’t need for the next four days (we did the 4 night/5 day itinerary). Luckily we only had one roll-on bag and back pack each. Soon we loaded back in the van with packed lunches (3 of us are vegetarians) and drove for an hour or so and transferred to a boat for the short final leg before reaching the Lodge. It’s a beautiful setting on the river – we first saw the hammock gazebo, where there are 6 or 7 hammocks, followed by the large common area with lots of seating, dining tables and a small bar. The kitchen opens on to the dining area. From here, you would walk over a wooden bridge to where the private cabins are located. As soon as we arrived at the lodge, we were greeted by the warm staff and were offered a refreshing drink. There were so many different types of birds singing and whistling as we made our way to our cabins …read coomplete review on Tripadvisor
